The Doctorate Program in Mathematics (PDM) in association between the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM) has as its main base the physical and human resources infrastructure of the Faculties of Mathematics of UFPA and the Department of Mathematics of UFAM.
In 2010, the Program began its activities, having as Areas of Concentration of Research the areas of Partial Differential Equations and Geometry.
The central objective of the PDM is to prepare human resources with qualification for teaching and for advanced research in Mathematics, giving them, in this way, the conditions so that they can carry out the exercise of the higher teaching profession with greater efficiency and develop with quality the scientific research in the diverse branches of mathematical knowledge.
In the last triennial 2012 evaluation of CAPES (period evaluated: 2010 to 2012), the PDM maintained note 4. It is worth mentioning that the PDM is the only Doctoral course in Mathematics in the North Region.
